Class of 2025
Tia is loving the opportunity of studying with Western Bulldogs and Victoria University, we spoke to her and reflected on her experiences from the first half of the course, which started in February 2025.
Channelling her passion for health and fitness, she hopes her experience as an ex-gymnast and confidence in high pressure sporting environments will allow her to thrive in a career in strength and conditioning.
“I see it as an amazing opportunity to join an established sports science program with a large network of likeminded individuals”.
Her highlights and key takeaways so far include experiencing her first Shadow Shift within the AFL High Performance team.
“I found it interesting to observe and see the theoretical principles in action… and how it helps enhance player performance”.
The experience has offered Tia a chance to be hands-on in practical application of the systems and processes she has learned in class.
“I have found the teaching staff both at Western Bulldogs and VU very knowledgeable, which has made for a fulfilling experience, and supportive learning environment”

The course is delivered in the VU Block Model, which Tia found kept the content fresh and allowed her to focus on one subject (and assignment) at a time!
The course is designed with a flexible framework based on the VU Block Model that accommodates learning styles and work/life commitments. Through a mix of online and in-person tutorials delivered by Victoria University the course covers key principles that can be applied in any sport or physical activity, and with any athlete.
