The SIS50321 Diploma of Sport is a hands-on, industry-aligned qualification delivered exclusively with the Western Bulldogs to turn your passion for sport into a career pathway. It’s designed as an exciting first step into tertiary study, to set you up for success by building practical skills, confidence and career clarity across the sport industry.

You’ll study at Mission Whitten Oval facilities, and Footscray Park campus with a blended mix of face-to-face and online learning, plus a 100-hour immersion experience within the Western Bulldogs business and with industry partners. The course suits school leavers and early career changers and supports pathways into further study at VU (including sport business, exercise science, events and screen media) or entry-level roles in sport, community and events.

COURSE INCLUSIONS

Coursework

The course consists of units from Victoria University TAFE specifically curated to give graduates broad and relevant knowledge that applies across all sport, community and event industries.

Industry Experience

Students will spend over 100-hours in extra-curricular immersion expereinces in the Western Bulldogs business, across a range of department and departments, business and event disciplines, gaining unparalleled understanding of elite sport, event management and business functions delivering all four football programs (AFL, AFLW, VFLW and VFL) and other business events.

Masterclasses and guest speakers

Practical learning is complimented by Masterclasses fand Guest Speakers from key Western Bulldogs staff and industry professionals. The program also provides students networking opportunities to further develop industry understanding and future employment prospects

  • Pre-training Review (PTR)
  • LIteracy and numeracy (LN) assessment to determine suitability for admission

Meeting the minimum admission requirements for this course does not guarantee entry into this course.
Some courses receive more applications than the number of places available. In this situation we will also assess you education, and other relevant experience.

Credit transfer & Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

If you've completed units for this qualification at another institution, you can apply for a credit transfer with formal evidence to VU at no cost.
You can also have relevant work, study, or informal learning recognised through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), though an administrative fee applies.
Apply for credit transfer or RPL through the course application portal prior to enrolment. You'll need to submit the required VU form and supporting evidence.

TUITION FEES

TAFE fees vary, depending on how much the government contributes towards course costs (if anything). Payment of fees may be able to be deferred.
